Study Contents and Activities

Traffic Data Collection
The study will use the Miovision system to collect traffic data for intersection turning movements. The Miovision hardware is a portable camera system that records the video. The online software analyzes the video and extracts the data.

Aerial Photography

Flown at 1,550 feet, an aerial camera will take overlapping color photographs that will be processed to extract 3D topographic data. From this, a 2D image will serve as a project base map for alternative development and evaluation.

Built on the County's already extensive survey data for the Bannerman corridor, additional survey work will add additional layers of information, including underground utility locations. The survey results will appear in a topographic format.


Using 40-foot-deep soil borings, the study will identify the general subsoil characteristics that impact the design of a stormwater management facility within each major watershed and that also will impact the design and construction of new roadway lanes within the corridor.

Drainage Analysis
The project corridor traverses parts of the Lake Jackson Basin, the Lake Iamonia Basin, the Ochlockonee River Upper Basin, and the Lake Lafayette Basin. This includes several closed basins and watersheds such as Lake McBride and the Bradfordville Study Area.

The Three Segments of the Corridor Study Area

From west to east, the three segments of the study are:

  • (Segment 1) Meridian Road to Bull Headley 
  • (Segment 2) Bull Headley to Tekesta
  • (Segment 3) Tekesta to the existing four-lane near Thomasville Road. There are three watershed involvements in the west segment, one in the middle segment, and two in the east segment. The study will inventory the existing drainage and stormwater management features. Once the existing stormwater facilities are cataloged, alternate stormwater treatment will be evaluated to conform with the existing stormwater management rules.


The study will review the 194 parcels of land along the corridor in order to align the roadway to make the best fit on the basis of many factors, including cost of land and construction, water management, and access.
